Not too many ways to parse that.
not for a normal person, no. But for ATT, or any other business, they can think of a new way every 11 seconds.
Stating that customers are coming back to you does not strike me as a very celever way to promote yourself, as it implies that those people were unhappy and left…
I disagree – the message is pitched to the audience of folks that have left (or are considering it). AT&T is basically saying “We understand why leaving sounded like a good idea t the time, but we’re actually a better choice, as someone realizes every 11 seconds.”
Does anyone still use phones that’ll work with the power out? I don’t think I’ve had one in the past five years- every phone I’ve owned for quite a while now requires a powercord in addition to the wall connection.
I would never be caught without a plain phone that works with power out. For one thing I can call the power company to report an outage. Generally, I am not first but it is still worth the effort because they will give me an estimate of when the power is restored, although their estimates are always on the pessimistic side. I guess that is policy.

I think that currently we have four phones plugged in (plus a couple not currently conneccted) to go with three cordless phones that requiire power. I don’t think I know one person that doesn’t have at least one phone that doesn’t work without power.

Oh yes, I don’t have a cellular phone.
