Woo hoo sounds like a great time. Thanks for the report
So how do they do the hall sets? Do they actually have a separate set for each floor, or do they just re-use the same one and change the details?
And have they always used a studio audience? I’ve only seen the first season, but the laughter sounded pretty canned.
I could imagine that if the takes that were used in editing were the later ones instead of the initial take, the laughter wouldn’t sound as genuine. Laughter could also have been “enhanced,” too.
I went to a taping of Boy Meets World, once. While ultimately fun, the show wasn’t funny and took forever. We left early after many hours. I got to see William Daniels wave to the crowd, even though he wasn’t in the episode.
Yeh, I wondered about this too. My assumption is they just change the details. Convenient for the production (as they only need one set), not so convenient for the cast (as they have to wait for set dressing, then continue as if no time has passed.)
I hope when the series finally comes to an end, they all move out of the apartment, and the elevator just so happens to finally be fixed.
Thanks for clearing up how that worked. I always wondered how sitcoms handled a live audience for multiple takes regarding the (real) laugh track.
Did they shoot the scenes in order so that the episode made sense, or was it just whatever scenes were convenient for the set they were on?
Answering various questions at random:
Yes, sorry, Cheesecake Factory. I got my head screwed around when I typed my comments.
We didn’t see them use the hallway sequence, so we don’t know, but our son (who had been at an earlier taping) said it’s just one set and they change the door numbers, the elevator sign, etc.
They did shoot the scenes in the order in which they will be played. Scenes that had been shot in advance, they showed us on the monitors so that we saw the whole episode in order.
How did you score those VIP tickets?
Way to go Dex.
What does Penny really wear during the bedroom scenes? I always assumed it would be like a tube top over jeans.
That’s wonderful!
I’ve had my name down to watch Stephen Fry compere ‘Quite Interesting’ for years…
I think I said way back up in the OP, on of the production staff is a friend of our son’s, and we had met him. That’s how we got the VIP tickets.
I didn’t see any bedroom scenes, so no idea how they film them. We did see a bathtub scene, but it had been pre-filmed, so we didn’t actually watch the shooting, we just saw the finished results. I’d imagine that the same happens for bedroom scenes – they’re not going to try to do them in front of an audience.
