Attention Paypal users!

This thread reminds me of a weird email I got the other day. It said my Chase bank account was going to be suspended. I clicked the link in the email and was taken to the Chase login page. I entered the username and password and took me to a verification page. I entered in a card number, expiration date and pin number but it wouldn’t take it. I tried again - same thing.

At first I wondered if my account at Chase had already been suspended but then I realied I didn’t have an account at Chase.

I haven’t used paypal in a couple years so I am wondering what is the advantage of keeping more than a few pennies in that account? The last time I used it to pay for something, I had to go in and do a bank transfer to get the money into paypal’s hands, then went back to ebay (or wherever it was) and completed the sale.

I’ve recieved some fake Ebay and/or Paypal emails that are so accurate that they actually include the warning about fake emails. They accurately tell you how to determine that they’re fake, but I guess they count on a few people just assuming it’s real because of the warning.

Well, I don’t have to worry about any paypal scams since they cancelled my account because I never went and signed their new user agreement. If I haven’t made any recent purchases I never pay any attention to any emails from paypal. I did try to go update my account but they wouldn’t let me so the heck with them. The account has a cancelled credit card on it so hacking it will not do anyone any good.

Interest rate they’re paying on money in the account is over 4.5%, plus cash back if you make purchases using the debit Mastercard they’ll be happy to send you. I know a few people who have pretty much switched to using that for daily expenses.

I’ve been used to seeing the kinds of spoofs from eBay and PayPal. They have a new scam now…they send you one “from” Amazon.com and tell you that you have money in one of those treasure boxes, and you need to log in to claim it.

Needless to say, I wasn’t fooled by it, but since we seem to have a phishing warning thread going here…consider yourselves warned.
