Attention Defiicit Syndrome (ADD) is a medical condition. People who suffer from ADD cannot pay attention for very long. They can’t help it. Og wants us to be nice to people with ADD. Does it not seem logical that Attention Whore Disorder (AWD) is also a medical condition? These people cannot have enough attention paid to them. Og himself suffers from AWD, and it behooves his followers to shower attention upon those who truly seek it. It’s okay, however, to say bad things about people with AWD. That’s still attention. Additionally, it gives the sufferer an opportunity to seek even more attention. Ultimately it’s a beautifully balanced system: those who desperately seek attention and those whom it annoys the fuck out of. ---

I posted my pic in that thread with a comment to the effect that no one ever notices – which is true. I had posted the same pic in two or three previous picture threads, and it wasn’t even a blip on the radar. One doesn’t have to be an attention whore to feel like a leper at the prom when it seems that everyone else in the thread, including many who are at best average, is being lavished with compliments while your existence isn’t even acknowledged. In real life I’m generally considered, well…let’s just say above average. So being ignored here makes me wonder if people on these boards just don’t like me personally for some reason. It’s natural to want reassurance, or barring that, at least to know why not. I mean, what are those threads if not giant blatant attention-fests? ---

I agree with the part of your post that I bolded, even though saying that out loud makes me feel kind of mean. However, I want someone to compliment my pictures based on my pictures, not because I get all Eeyore and say, “No one ever notices me. Sigh… Why do I even bother?” I wouldn’t want someone to see that, feel bad, and then feel like they have to compliment me. I just accept that I’m not the most gorgeous person in the thread. And in the end, it’s not a big deal to me. ---
