Ever since humans changed from hunter-gatherers to subsistence farmers living in villages (usually near a creek or river), they have been polluting those rivers – a handy place to throw anything you wanted to get rid of. It’s now, with the growth of human population and global warming droughts, that we are getting seriously concerned. Hopefully not too late.
