That Emerson, Lake, & Palmer tune with the “Oh, what a lucky man he was” chorus. I could probably just dismiss the song as mediocre inanity, but the producer failed to edit out the part where, apparently, a cat gets into the studio and starts walking across a Moog keyboard, resulting in faux-whaleblatt blaring away in the end product.

And a couple of folks have mentioned It’s a Small World. Whenever I’m reminded of that song, my brain immediately goes into a locked loop of: “Duff beer for me! Duff beer for you! I’ll have a Duff! You have one too!” from the Simpsons episode where Aunt Patty takes Bart and Lisa to Duff Gardens. My brain’s trying to kill me.

I also go with _Lady in Red_. Others that I hate are _Who Let the Dogs Out_ and some 70s song called _Baracuda_; I’m not sure who it’s by, though. All I know is that it’s stupid and I hear it everytime I’m in the car with my mom and we listen to the radio station with 70s rock.

this one ALWAYS made me want to slap the s\*\*\* out of the singer: “Angel of the Morning”, once I got my ears to quit bleeding

_sigh_

**Barracuda** was sung by Heart, and I use the term “sung” very, very loosely. I hated it when it was new, and age has not made it any more dear to my heart.

I have _got_ to stay away from this thread! But I just keep coming back for more and more punishment!!!

And also, to the poster who mentioned ZZ Topp sucking:

You and I have to be the only two people in the universe to agree on that. I have nearly gotten in fist fights for verbalizing that sentiment.

Of all the insipid charity songs which, by definition, are in the class of WATS, “We are the world” has to be the absolute pittiest pit of the pits.

And I have HATED “Kumbaya” since 1st grade. I recently saw my elementary school teacher and forgot to confess this particular sin to her; I think she would have been amused.

> 1. ANYTHING by Morrissey and/or The Smiths. I just can’t comprehend how anyone can listen to the whinings of this dork. (I’m sure I’ve offended someone… I’m sorry… ) I was forced to listen to every recording Morrissey ever made by a psychotic girl that was totally obsessed with him… If Morrissey had burped on the mic somewhere, she would have a copy of it and call it a musical masterpiece. I never liked Morrissey before I met her, and it certainly didn’t help to be forced to listen to “how sad he sounds!” or (actual quote) “his miserableness is what makes the music great!”

I call foul on dismissing an entire discography (well, except for manufactured “artists” like the Backroom Boys or Britney’s Spheres). If you don’t like the band or performer, that’s fine, but that’s outside the scope of songs hateable on their own individual lack of merits.

And don’t diss the late, much-misses Smiths until you have heard Aretha Franklin do “Hand in Glove”.

Yeah, in sixth grade we had to sing stuff like “Erie Canal” (“I got a mule, her name is Sal/Fifteen miles on the Erie Canal/She’s a good old worker and a good old pal/Fifteen miles on the Erie Canal”).
It was NOT one of the more enjoyable part of childhood.
