# Auto-Correct on an email name - wtf?

So, as of about a month ago, my personal GMail address is showing up in folks’ Inboxes with my name Auto-Corrected. E.g., if my name is Johnny Guitar (but “guitar” is not a common noun) it gets corrected to Johnny Gutter, a recognized noun. Not the end of the world, but not my last name either.

Fwiw, I recently upgraded to a new iPhone 6.

So - any idea what may have changed? I have had the GMail account for years - the only thing I can think of that has changed is the new phone.

More importantly - how/where the heck do I update things so my last name is spelled correctly? I have folks coming back and saying “dude - are you taking on a stage name?”

If any Dopers have an idea, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

I remember when auto spell check first came out on web browsers. When I was coding HTML, it would mark the tags as being spelled wrong!
