Auto Insurance Question

Indiana is one of several states that allows insurance companies to require its policy holders to list teen drivers with permits on the insurance policy. (Illinois, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia are the rest of them.)

Based on that, it’s very easy for the company to decline any claim on an unreported minor driving (and then dropping the insured as well) based on the assumption that to get the license, they would have had to get the permit first.

(Ignoring teenagers who moved to one of the listed states after they got their licenses.)

Well, my company doesn’t require it because I called when my daughter got her permit and they said they didn’t need to do anything and she was covered under my normal insurance. I didn’t bother calling when my son got his.
