Guessing that **cg16** also gets mad if a cashier asks him if he wants to “supersize” that (or equivalents at other restaurants) or if he wants a “combo”. Did I guess right? Do I win a prize? ---

Well first of all I am coming out of 97 heat and sweating so I was looking at the menu and wiping sweat. So it was obvious from all of that I was not ready to order. ---

So what. I like being acknowledged when I come in even if I’m not ready to order. It’s ok you don’t like it. It’s just silly to think the cashier is doing something wrong when: 1. She may be required to ask 2. Some customers do like it ---

And she may be required to ask or know from past experience that some customers get annoyed if they’re not greeted or acknowledged. You may prefer she not do it, but it doesn’t make her wrong or foolish for having done so. That’s the point. Hell, one could even argue that being hot and sweaty means you’d want food and drink as fast as possible, so you could eat and rest. ---

You say you don’t like it, but you don’t dump on the cashier for having done it. You recognize it as your personal quirk (that others may share) and not a universal truth. ---
