# Avengers 2 release dates

Was considering going to see this and checked Metacritic which claims it is released in a week despite it already being in theaters here in Finland. Looking at IMDB’s release day page for the movie there’s a long list of countries where it is released before May 1st, the day people in US can go see it. I remember plenty of cases where we get a movie late and that doesn’t seem weird, but this is the first bigger movie we get so much earlier I can remember. Anybody know why the release dates for this movie are like this?

It was released 2 days ago here in the Netherlands.

It’s been a common thing in recent years on big movies; my understanding is that it’s due to piracy issues in other countries.

[The first Avengers movie was released on May 4, 2012 in the US](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0848228/releaseinfo?ref_=tt_ql_9) (though it’d had its Hollywood premiere on April 11); by May 4th, it’d already been released in dozens of other countries.
