I haven’t seen you in – gosh, several years now, since I started burning through our savings while I simultaneously tried to make it as an actor and waited for the economy to improve. I see you’re still the same dispiriting ghost town you were three years ago, job search. (anybody need to hire an editor, proofreader, writer, actor or voiceover guy?) ---

UGH! I like my dad, but he can really drive me up the wall sometimes. My dad thinks it’s okay to take stuff out of the garbage. I mean like reaching into our trash can and taking stuff out of it! One time my mother threw away some cheese because it had gone moldy (and wasn’t the kind of cheese that’s supposed to have mold on it.) My dad took the cheese out of the garbage and put it back in the fridge! And just now, I was looking for a pen that works. I carefully tested, then threw in the garbage, 8 pens that didn’t work. So my dad tried to help me find a pen that worked - by _reaching into the garbage_ and taking out one of the pens that didn’t work! Luckily I managed to stop him this time before he actually got his hand in the garbage can. The next time I throw something away, I’m putting paper towels over it so my dad can’t see what’s in the garbage can. ---

What does he say when people ask why he’s pulling stuff out of the garbage? Does he just think everyone else is too wasteful and is throwing away good stuff? Does he think the pens fell into the garbage by mistake? My own pet peeve these days is a Facebook acquaintance who won’t stop posting conspiracy theories about Sandy Hook. She’s not the brightest person, and I’ve frequently sent her snopes links in the past (as well as a link to the vaccination book Kolga and Lavender(blue? violet?) wrote), but these damn Sandy Hook things are obnoxious and disgusting. First it was Obama doing it so he could repeal the 2nd amendment, then it was a conspiracy that apparently google knew about (but, uh, no one else on the planet noticed?), and the newest kookiness is that stonehenge, Sandy Hook elementary, and one of the mayan pyramids all lie on a straight line - and there’s a ley line right at the Sandy Hook front door! And the Mayans used to sacrifice children! Argh, argh, argh. Stab me in the eyes, please. ---

Dear friend, I know it’s stressful and frustrating when a loved one is in the ER. However, your husband is in his early 30s, in the ER for pneumonia, and not otherwise in great distress - he is not in a high risk group, can breathe on his own, etc. He was put in a quarantine room so they could rule out TB first. So yeah, the nurses may not have been in and out of the room frequently enough for your taste, but it was for good reasons. He was hooked up to monitors that would report to them on his vitals, and in the meantime, they probably had a shitload of important other things to deal with, since it’s the ER and all. ---

Holy shit, I’m just wiped. My husband is gone for most of January. I haven’t slept properly in days - it’s weird sleeping alone, and my screaming nightmares have made a comeback. Last night my back pain kept me awake. I hate our mattress so hard. I did some Tabata flutter-kicks the other day and now I’m so sore I can barely walk - I now know the meaning of ‘‘hurt muscles you never even knew you had.’’ I’ve been subsisting on frozen dinners since my husband is out of town and I haven’t felt like cooking myself an entire meal. I know I feel like shit because I’ve been treating myself like shit. The house is a mess. It’s been years since I’ve been left to my own devices for any long period of time. I feel like doing basic things like dishes, laundry and getting up to go to work are just so difficult right now. Some kind of depression I guess. So grateful I work from home tomorrow. Having my squishy new recliner delivered too; I might just end up sleeping on that until we buy a new mattress. ---

Well, you have only yourself to blame then, hmmm? I can resemble that. 😛 When I make pico this time of year, I use canned tomatoes (usually Rotel) because the fresh tomatoes are so yucky. Saves a lot of chopping. ---

I just found out I’m pregnant and now I don’t feel like eating. That’s the problem I had the last time around, but my gallbladder was to blame there. I hate it when people walk on the fresh snow on my sidewalk and the snow they pack down molecularly bonds to the sidewalk and has to be scraped off, inch by painful inch. GAH! Yeah, I know what you’re thinking - they have a right to walk there, I need to get out the microsecond a snowflake hits the walk, etc. It still annoys me.
