I realized that in all my rants I haven’t followed the cardinal rule of the board; I haven’t posted pictures. So, I’m going to remedy that. As you may notice, the police aren’t helping with this problem - they are actually contributing to it. Jerks. ---

I just love calicos, their bold splashes of color are so striking and happy looking. And look at her sweet face, that girl will give you no problems at all with the meds. She’s so sweet looking that she will probably start reminding you that its time for her meds while sitting at your feet and gently pawing at your knee. Yeah, right. Who am I kidding??? Pills, liquid or shots? I’m pretty good at getting meds into cats, so if you want tips, I’d be happy to share. My rant: My Matron of Honor and best friend called me a couple of hours ago. Her husband’s failing health has gotten really bad. As in, he is dieing from Agent Orange related cancers. This is horrible. Its terrible. I feel so bad for them both, I love them both. Of course, I will do anything I can to be a supportive friend, but now I’m wondering if I should ask her to step down. Her duties aren’t very onerous, mostly I want her to tell people that I don’t need gifts, and that if they can’t come to Texas, we will be having a party in AZ after the honeymoon. And to stand next to me at the BWW, of course. If I have to suffer, I expect my friends to suffer with me. However, she needs to be able to focus on her beloved husband now, and it just feels wrong to be distracting her with my joy and happiness. Or maybe she will need and want the distraction. I don’t know what to do. All I know is that I love her and want to do the right thing. Sweet story that her husband told me here: When he wanted to propose, he asked her out to dinner and gave the ring to the Maitre de and asked him to have the ring delivered with the desert cart. Romantic moment was supposed to happen. After they finished dinner, he asked her if she wanted desert and she said No. He didn’t know what to do, the romantic surprise was spoiled and she wanted to leave, and someone had the ring, but he had to pay the bill and had no idea what to do. His compromise was to walk my friend out to the car, then say that he thought he had forgotten his gun, run back inside, get the ring and then go on his knee in the parking lot to offer it to her. That was 28 years ago. (this is the same guy who drove to SkyHarbor with a gun on his dashboard a week after 9/11. A very nice guy, but totally clueless sometimes.) ---

If the two of you wish, she can still stand as the Matron of Honor but pass all the organizing duties to someone else. Or some other arrangement. So sorry to hear about her husband. Next person I see tying a granny knot is going to find all of their clothes tied in granny knots, dunked in water, and the knots further tightened. Good grief, people. If you can’t tie a square knot (aka, reef knot), do the world a favor and quit tying things together. Seriously, get someone else to tie your shoes for you. Better yet, wear loafers, you utter moron. What occasioned this mini-rant? Well, I had to undo eight granny knots today in lines that I could not cut and the items in question had to be maintained in good condition. This should’ve taken approximately eight seconds. Suffice it to say that eight seconds was much, much shorter than the actual time expended. ---

I’m such an idiot. Working on my dog’s obedience stuff in Tractor Supply’s parking lot yesterday, I was attempting to get her recalls a bit more jazzed and lively. One method is to call, and if she ambles along or looks tentative, turn and run away from her. Which I did. And then overbalanced or something and “measured my length” on the tar. (Luna thought that was the best thing ever, of course 🆒 ) In saving my face from the ground I jammed the shit out of my left shoulder, and this morning is feeling like I did something not-good in there, sigh. And of course I’m supposed to go get my horse from the trainer’s and bring him home tomorrow/Weds, but right now I’m not actually sure I can hold my arm to hold the reins, never mind tack up. Dammit! I was looking forward to riding every day once I got him home ☹ I’m a klutz and an idiot. eta - I just remembered I’ve got 4 50lb bags of feed and a compressed bale of alfalfa (also 50+lbs) to unload from the truck this morning if my horses are going to eat. This should be fun. ---

Well, the neighbour who parks his old truck in front of our house\* for weeks on end without moving it moved it yesterday, and I took the opportunity to park in front of my own house. He has now parked his truck in the bus zone across the street. I think there might be something wrong with him. \*They have a two-car garage, but somehow still need to park four to six vehicles on the street daily. ---

Oh, and it’s not terribly ranty (as such), but I forgot to mention that my mom is going to be in the hospital for another 10-14 days doing rehab for her broken pelvis. This entails her paying to board her other dog, to the tune of $35/day. I’m sure we could find someplace cheaper, but we were desperate on NYE and this place had openings. Now mom doesn’t want to move the dog, and has decided it’s just easier to pay it. So, only child me is driving up to see her at least every other day (I have to check on _her_ cat and pick up the mail) in addition to everything else going on. I’ve been having crying episodes almost daily for a week now. Of course, I realize it could be much worse, but that doesn’t change the emotional strain. _sigh_ ---
