I remember watching The Price is Right as a kid and seeing old Wilfred selling oatmeal and life insurance to the old folks. I had the opportunity to watch TPiR today and what do my eyes behold but Tom Selleck selling reverse mortgages to the old folks. He even sounded like he had some of the old Brimley gravel rattling around in his throat as he convinced the old timers at home how trustworthy he is. I can’t say for sure, I was a bit disoriented by the whole spectacle, but I think he even said “Diabeetus.” Maybe that was just my imagination, I don’t know. Thomas Magnum, ladies and gentlemen. Thomas Magnum. I feel old. ---

Is that the commercial where he says something to the effect of “a reverse mortgage isn’t just a way to take your home”? You know, if you have to say it, it probably isn’t true. ---

I watch _Blue Bloods_ and I’ve gotten used to his bloated, middle-aged appearance. He’s still relatively good-looking, for an old fart-- I’m the same age as Selleck. Even though he now only seems to have one facial expression: consternation. Let’s face it: everyone ages. But for those who in their youth were ridiculously-Greek-god-drop-dead-gorgeous, the slide into paunchy, jowly Wilfred Brimley land, is hard to watch. I saw him on an old episode of _Taxi_ a while back (predated _Magnum_), and at first I couldn’t believe it was him, because he was so stunningly handsome. Selleck is mostly sitting down in the show, at the dinner table or a desk. Now start noticing how few scenes he is actually walking. I gave up on the show when Danny did the “begging a man to drop the gun” bit. A real cop says Drop the gun NOW, not “Drop the gun. C’mon drop the the dun. I don’t want to have to shoot you. Please drop the gun.” If you don’t you get shot. Plain and simple. ---
