I really hate the Golden Globes comedy nominations each year. Always dominated by titles that aren’t comedies but simply movies in which sometimes a funny thing was said. If 50/50 is a comedy, then so is The Descendants. ---

_Boardwalk Empire_ should Best TV Drama, it was ridiculously good this year. And it is a travesty that Jack Huston didn’t get a Best Supporting Actor nod. ---

Thank you Sigmagirl. I’m very happy with most of these but especially with Rooney Mara and Trent Reznor from The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. The music and her performance are electric. Also thrilled to see Brendan Gleeson in for The Guard, which I’m waiting to see right now (it’ll be my 3rd time). The Guard and Beginners deserved more but I’m glad they’re mentioned at all. ---

> [@Bridget\_Burke](#): > > And there’s no _Mad Men_ in the competition this year! _Mad Men_ didn’t have any new episodes in the period of eligibility. But _Breaking Bad_ did and it not being among the Best Drama nominees is ridiculous. [Previous page](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/awards-season-2011-2012/605871.md?page=1)
