# Awkward question from my boss

Actually, I suppose he’s not exactly my boss any more. The partner who is the former head of our department and I have a fun, bantering relationship, and we often exchange off-color jokes, both in person and by email (just for background, he is male; I am female). However, I was unprepared for this phone call the other day:
“So, I have this rather rude and funny email that I was going to forward to you. But there’s a word in it that I’ve never heard before, and I was wondering if you knew what it meant.”
“Okay…”
“Have you ever heard of ‘felching’? I looked in my dictionary and I couldn’t find it.”

After a pause, I told him I was uncomfortable defining it for him, and I emailed him the link to the [Wikipedia entry](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felching).
He called later to apologize for asking. From context in the email he was forwarding (which he did send me, and which was pretty funny), it had something to do with gerbil-stuffing. He was shocked when he found out that that was the “tame” definition.

I never bothered to actually find out what ‘felching’ meant myself… until now.

Really? You mean after reading it several thousand times on these boards you never bothered to look it up or ask what it meant? Shocking!
The hell DOES it mean. Wikipedia is either down or very ssslllooooowww right now and I couldn’t look it up myself.
Under Google ‘images’ [this](http://www.port88.freeserve.co.uk/lady-b.jpg) comes up under “felching”. Is that correct?

I never bothered to look it up either. I just assumed is a synonym for passing gas in a nasty manner. I guess I was _wrong_.

**ENugent** , I wish more folks would have co-workers like yours. The guy is fun to be around, but at least has a grasp at tact. Give him some points for me.
