Count me with the crowd who thinks the Famous Bowls sound nauseating. It sounds just a little TOO much. And I’m not exactly the healthiest eater on the planet (I look forward to the days when the hospital cafeteria serves onion rings or fried mozarella sticks, fer crissakes!) I’m sure that a big mac and fries with a shake has just as many calories, or nearly as many. But somehow, it doesn’t seem quite as rich and heavy as this does. ---

had my second one last night. first one I had lunch time, drove from KFC back to work, it was near by. I don’t care for their mashed taters much, but the corn, etc was good, and the crispiness of the chicken was maintained. last night I stopped by on the way home. I live out in the boonies, so the cheese was all melted by the time I got home. I highly recommend allowing that to happen. ummmmmm. ---

The bowl gets me hungry for chili-cheese fries, actually, or some excellent chili-and-cheese nachos. But when someone mentioned their ultimate breakfast, it reminded me of the Breakfast of Champions my best friend and I ate when we were in high school. Take: 2 large chicken breasts 2 boxes Kraft Mac and Cheese Liberal amounts of Tony Chachere’s Seasoned Salt Some flour - Dredge the chicken in flour. Douse lightly in seasoned salt. - Fry in pan. - Make mac and cheese. - Put on plate, eat. Serves two. Oddly enough, even though I can’t manage to finish that meal today, I’m heavier now than I was then. ☹ ---

The description of this dish reminds me of a Malaysian delicacy called _ais kacang_. The first word is the English word “ice,” and _kacang_ means either ‘bean’ or ‘peanut’–or both, as you’ll see. First a bowl gets half filled with crushed ice. On top of that, throw in: black beans peanuts corn niblets a dark brown jelly (I don’t know what colors or flavors it) syrup evaporated milk until it looks like an exploding volcano. I personally find it unappealing. ---

Hey hey hey! Ice Kachang is the food of the Gods! There’s red beans, sweetcorn, most probably it was “chin chow” jelly, attap seeds… I can’t remember what else. But it’s PERFECT for blazing tropical days! … Come to think of it, Western food doesn’t really have an analogue that I can think of… fruit and nut cake, maybe? That’s a whole lotta stuff mixed together… oh!! Salad! That’s a whole bunch of random crap thrown together and slathered in mayo, you have to admit that if you weren’t used to it it would look mighty strange. ---

The first time I saw the commercial, I thought it was a joke. I don’t have a problem with a bunch of stuff in a bowl. I like breakfast bowls, and rice bowls. But those things go together. The KFC bowl would be tolerable without the corn and cheese. I like corn and cheese, but not dribbled ontop of my chicken dinner.
