Part of my training was “Assume Nothing.” It sticks with ya. So I was OTT. Well, I can be an OTT kind of guy when I get pissed, and I was pissed. I can also admit I was wrong when I’m shown to be wrong, and apologise when it’s appropriate. I don’t see that from my dozen detractors (which they call “everyone.”) I don’t see that from you; I see evasion, while you hop up and down and point and say, “Oh no, it’s YOU who’s doing the evading.” I’ve shown you where you’re wrong, how you offended me. Once we’re through dealing with that we can more on to how I offended you. It’s a good thing we don’t have blue people. Just think how they would look beside a tomato plant. I’m not sure whether our tomatoes all died or were eaten by squirrels. We’ve looked for Fox piss at the seed store because someone said it keeps squirrels away. But they didn’t have any. I might try to piss on the bird feeder myself, but I just don’t have that ol’ blast-o-bladder like I used to. Besides, with my luck, there’ll come up a gust of wind. ---

Same with Cultural Anthropology. The competition was too fierce, for one thing, and I was more concerned with survival than status. Being an assistant professor in both was more lucrative, especially knowing I’d never get the brass ring anyway. If you got a full professorship, then congratulations (tell me, was it worth it?). I make myriad typos, too. The fingers don’t work on the keys like they used to; the eyes don’t catch all the mistakes anymore. And I’ve made some stupid grammar mistakes lately, too! I don’t judge people. I may try to trash them (though I’m not very good at it, as you have seen), but I’m not a bigot, or a nitpicker. People are human, and they screw up. On this board, too often, I’m concerned if the screw-ups are deliberate or accidental. Usually, a person with integrity will own up to their mistakes. A person with a normal ego will also apologise for mistakes or even deliberate slights. I’m not seeing that here; I’m seeing maliciousness. I don’t see you as malicious, though, in case I’m misunderstood again; it looks more like you were just riding the tide of disapproval. Truce? ---
