My rant is that my body now protests that it can’t do all the things it used to do in a single day. Quite frustrating. I was attempting my usual September canning and freezing binge with pesto on Monday, enchiladas on Tuesday and spaghetti sauce on Wed. Well, pesto on Monday, enchiladas on Wednesday and that sauce is getting made Friday. Instead of the old half-day effort, I know this is going to take me all day. Dang, getting old is frustrating. ---

Minor anti-rant. Or at least, something that could have been really annoying that was prevented. Went out earlier today to pick up a few groceries. Paid as usual with a credit card and made small talk with a very sweet pretty cashier. As I was walking out the door she ran after me calling my name. Naturally, my first thought was that at the last minute she had worked up the courage to ask me out on a date. Not that that’s ever happened, but I always imagine that it should. But no, apparently my ancient credit card wallet which is starting to come apart had caused me to drop a couple of credit cards on the floor. I imagine that some honest soul had picked them up and handed them to her, and she ran after me with them. I’m grateful that there are honest people in the world. 🙂 Now I will rant that I have to get a new CC wallet – a separate little thing that I use just for cards. With brick-and-mortar retail all but disappearing, I don’t even know where to look for one. ---

I lost my job/ was demoted The corporation I work for does a lot of fulfilling contracts and sub contracts. I was working on a contract for the Defense Manpower Data Center. It paid well. The work involved actually helping people. Today, I was informed that my quality control score was not high enough and as a result I was being relieved of duties and moved to a different contract (at a lower pay). Knowing myself as I do, I would have needed a therapist to work through some of the obstacles to a higher QC score I had. Since my insurance changed, I’m having trouble finding a therapist. I finally called my insurance company today. They said they could email me a list of approved therapists. Email never came. I called and they said they could text message me a list. Now, I have a bunch of texts I have no idea what to do with. ---

Do _not_ beat yourself up over this! Usually this means that you were too humane (and caring and sympathetic) when they really wanted a bureaucrat. I’m sorry you lost the higher pay, but it probably speaks to your better humanity. I would bet the people you helped were grateful. ---

I’m down to about 3 tablespoons of peanut butter in my substandard jar of Skippy. Most of it has gone to the dog, who is lacking a refined palate. When will Jif return to my local shelves??? (Yeah, I don’t care if it has too much sugar/salt for you - it’s what I grew up with. And any food technologist will tell you the sugar/salt brings out the flavor. And the amount of carbs listed on the jar [gasp] _includes_ the amount naturally present in the peanuts.) ---

I was getting grouchy about how hard DH’s Sqwincher is getting to find. Then I went to CVS this evening (needed a USB drive for file transfers), and saw the baby formula shelves behind the counter Only about three brands/varieties represented by only one or two containers. Lots of blank shelf space. I feel very sorry for parents of babies who need formula. ---

Do you check the peanut butter every time you go to the grocery store? You might have to stalk the PB to get your Jif. I found some a few weeks ago (Food Lion in NC). Good luck! ---

I live in an apartment building, and my neighbors are nasty. They leave trash bags around the dumpster when it’s not full and put plastic bags, non-recyclable things, and cardboard boxes in the recycling. Today there’s a big puddle of vomit right in front of the stairs (the only way to get to the second floor) that looks like it’s been partly cleaned up, but it smells bad and it’s gross, and who wants to walk through a biohazard? I have things I need to do today, and now I don’t want to leave. 😟 I hate these people.
