Do any other women on this board agree with this statement or am I the only one? I understand that if you are a mother, you of course are going to find your own baby adorable. But what about babies in general? I find them to be wrinkled, bawling, poop machines and I don’t see anything cute about that at all. Of course, I have never wanted to have children of my own, so perhaps my opinion is jaded. I have a niece and nephew, and wanted nothing to do with them until they reached the age of 2. Any other women feel this way? ---

No kids here, and although I’ve seen the occasional cute baby, it’s puppies that make me go all googly. Babies are meh. Puppies, now, them’re cute! ---

I agree that as a general rule, babies, particularly newborns, are very ugly. When I say that to other women they look at me as if I just sprouted another head. It is always nice to find out that I am not alone. BTW, I also think babies smell bad. ---

I made the concious decision never to have kids when I was around 17 (getting up there – just turned 25 and not even an eensy hint of changing my mind) and I can’t say I find babies in general to be cute at all. I think it’s one of those things where you find them cute if they’re YOURS. I have seen a few honestly cute babies, but most of them look like weird little alien things to me. I much prefer toddlers and a little older children. I don’t think they can really start to be cute until they begin to talk and start to develop individual personality. If I ever “have” kids, I will adopt a little older kid. Them, I can deal with. Probably though, I will just end up being the weird ratlady fun-aunt for my siblings’ eventual children. ---

That’s definitely true. Mine are _even cuter_ now since they’re toddlers. Most other toddlers are cute, too. And it’s easier to play with them b/c they give feedback - I always felt funny "kitchykoo"ing them when they were too young to protest. Have you ever noticed that most “Celebrity Babies” are nothing to write home about? Those newborn pix can be pretty scary! ---

At the age of 13 I decided I didn’t want children. I am now 33, and still don’t want them. I will admit that my nephew, who is now going on 3, is one adorable little boy. He is very outgoing and does get exhausting sometimes, though. ---

My boyfriend is pretty into the idea of having a family someday. It’s important to him. I respect that, I think it’s great. I don’t mind kids, and I plan on having kids someday, but I don’t go all D’AWWW! about it. So, I was describing a littler of young puppies I’d played with to him, and constantly squeaking and going “awww, and one of the puppies did blah blah, and then another did blah blah blah, and isn’t that the cutest thing ever?” Yeah, I know, sickening, but it was his fault for getting me on a roll! Then he says… “If you get this way over puppies, you must be a total puddle of goop around babies.” . . . “Uh… no, not really, why would you think that?” Kind of a killjoy, I was. 😛 ---

I don’t care for babies. My nephew is cute, but I only see him two or three times a year. The part I like about babies is watching them discover the world, one day hands are foreign objects, the next they’ve figured out that they can be used to make other stuff happen. I get the same (or more) joy out of kittens and puppies, though. I’m not planning on ever having children. I’ll spoil my nephew though. Everyone needs a relative like that. ---

I am a completely different person around puppies and kittens than I am around babies. One time, a friend of mine just plopped her baby into my lap without warning. I sat there stiffly with this :eek: look on my face until she took him back. That was the only time I ever held a baby. ---

put me down for female, babies ugly… prefer my dprogs housebroken and coherent, say about 8 years old minimum…can one adopt an 18 year old and shove them into college and off on their own? 😃 ---

I am a father and I don’t think that very young babies are cute. Newborns actually suck even more when you are the one that has to take care of them. Once they get to be about 6 months old though, things start to change. I have another one coming in a few months and I a thrilled but scared for those first months at the same time. For the baby, it is nothing but take, take, take and very little give. ---
