As long as my kids won’t have to pay for your Social Security and Medicare benefits, I have no problem with your stance.
Where’s a BBQ Pit Traffic Cop when you need one? :dubious:
Start your own damn Pit thread if you don’t like children or do. If you people don’t have anything horrible to say about Babies R Us, don’t say anything at all.
I’m so sorry if it is so offensive that I believe you should feed and clothe and house your own children. I thought that was the responsible thing to do when one chooses to have kids.
Oh, and I am paying taxes and towards Social Security out of each paycheck…so it’s me who is paying for it. It’s not like I am not contributing, and gaining benefits anyway. I contribute, I gain. That is the way it should be.
Dude, I NEVER said anything of the sort!!
But you’re right, this is way off topic, but since people started attacking me and calling me a CHILD HATER, I had to defend myself. Mission accomplished, back to the Babies R Us pit thread. Sorry Chastain.
Ain’t that the damn truth. When I was pregnant, I filled out all of the little forms that I got everywhere, saying that I’d be breastfeeding exclusively. I got a TON of free cans of formula and probably at least $200 in those coupon “checks.” I gave them all away to other people I knew who used those brands of formula. I breastfed my daughter for 8 months, and due to some unfortunate circumstances at that time, I switched to formula. I thought “Hey, how nice would it be to get some of those free formula samples now that I’m actually using formula!” I filled out some of the little forms again, this time saying that I would be formula feeding exclusively. I got a couple of coupons, and nothing else.
I eventually just started buying store-brand stuff. It’s the same, and it’s only $12-16 for a big can, instead of $20+. Babies R’ Us is a huge rip off, now matter what you’re buying there. You can almost always find the same item elsewhere for a cheaper price.
Sorry to continue the hijack but, really, it’s not worth my time to start a whole other thread.
A) (…if I won a million dollars… HAHAHAHAHA!!!) = Riiiiiight, like I’d ever win a million dollars. I’ll try to, umm, spell it out or something next time. Wouldn’t want you to miss out on anything.
B) My WIC representative did tell me that. Want her number or somethin’? I’m on MA, too (oooh, I’m the fucking DEVIL, right?) and guess what? My MA rep. told me that I had to report any income changes within 10 days. So I guess if my income changes, I’ll be reporting to her within 10 days.
C) Don’t worry your pretty little head, nyctea, I didn’t commit any “fraud”; my income has hardly moved since I applied for WIC. I served some time over at Wal-Mart, but that doesn’t really count. And fuck you anyway.
Thank you SO MUCH for the use of your tax dollars, nyctea. That gallon of milk a month, the dozen eggs… really, it’s great of you to be so generous. Oh, and thanks to you, I’ll be able to have my gall bladder taken out. (Thanks for the morphine last night, btw. The pain was really killing me!) If you’d like, I can have it sealed in a jar and sent to you. Lemme know, okay? Just doin’ my part to “give back”, y’know?
I don’t think it’s offensive at all that you think I should feed and clothe and house my own children. Why should I? I do all that. FYI, I also pay to educate them because my children go to a private school.
That means I, like you, are paying taxes towards the education of children who are not my own. The difference is that I’m glad to do it. I consider it an investment in the future of my country. An educated populace is a good thing.
It may be the way it SHOULD be, but that’s not the way it is. In reality, the SS and Medicare taxes that we pay today are going to fund the system TODAY. That is why on your paystub it is listed as a “tax” and not a “personal retirement account.”
When you and I retire, if Social Security even exists then, we will rely on the taxed earnings of those who are still working. If you don’t have children, then you WILL rely on other people’s children to support you in your retirement, whether you like it or not. Just as you paid for their education. Tit for tat.
