Baby Boomer retirement - How big of a disaster?

Is it not true that the boomers are a bubble. If so it starts to build .gets bigger, then gets smaller. Meanwhile the boomers slowly and surely die off. If we change the entire system for a short term problem, do we then change it back.

I’ve been thinking about this, on and off, for a couple of years now. My best guess is that over the next 20 years or so, there is going to be a HUGE surplus of giant houses in well-heeled suburbs and enclaves. It won’t just be retirees trying to cash out their investment. It will also be people who don’t want to lug the laundry from the basement to the bedrooms on the second floor, and who don’t want to try and clean the 2 story glass windows any more (or mow the lawn/shovel the snow/…)

Time to move into the undervalued ranch style house within walking distance of the post office and sell it off in a few years.

Maybe those black and white striped outfits will make a come back. Everyone looks better when they look 2-3 inches taller.

Wait, you mean I’m actually doing something that makes some sort of financial sense? Hey!

Does anyone think that with their political clout, the boomers will be able to at least maintain SS payouts? It should be sufficient for sufficiently simple living, at least for those without preexisting debts.
