Talk about giving out personal information. How did they know she called her womb “Victoria”? Ladies, do you normally name your womb? What do you call it? Our local paper ran this story along with a local-interest addendum. Back in 1987, a local woman was murdered and her nine-months’ baby cut from her abdomen with a car key. Another woman, who had recently suffered a miscarriage, was charged with and ultimately convicted of the crime. The baby survived and was reunited with her father and older siblings, and the family eventually moved to another state. Our local paper referred to this incident, saying the surviving husband “reportedly still lives in [other state] but could not be reached for comment.” Because, of course, if your family has been torn apart by a horrific crime and you’ve relocated your children to get away from the place where it happened, you will naturally want to make a comment for the press every time the same sort of crime is committed. ---

FTW would the…adoptive is a bad word…parent say to the child in answer to “where did I come from?” “I cut you from…because…” Damn. And the Father has to explain to the child at some time? Damn again. ---

It wasn’t a womb, it was a baby. And say what you will, pro-choice or pro-life, it was a real, living, breathing child for that woman–enough for her to name it. ---

Don’t you think there is something sinister about the way she is holding the dog? It’s almost as if she is wishing it was a baby. Jeez. ---

Are all these crimes committed by demented women who can’t have children of their own? There was some speculation that the baby was stolen so it could be sold, but that seems like an awful lot of trouble, when they could have just taken an already born infant. (I apologize if that sounds worse than I mean it.) I’m glad the baby’s back safe and sound with Daddy. The woman looks very very creepy, especially the way she’s cradling that dog. Whooboy. ---

She had a miscarriage earlier this year, then when she was supposedly “shopping”, she called her husband and told him she went into labor and had a baby. It sounds like she maybe never told her husband about the miscarriage then went on pretending she was pregnant. The alternative - that her husband knew she wasn’t pregnant - is even worse I think, because the two of them were showing off their “new baby” in public. ---

That picture is definitely in the “thousand words” category. It’s too early to speculate in print about Mrs Montegomery’s motivation for initially contacting Stinnett about purchasing a puppy, of course… …but looking at that picture of her holding a baby-clothes-clad puppy like an infant, I think a lot of poeple are going to connect the dots-- She bred rat terriers as infant surrogates, knew Mrs. Stinnett from the breeders’ community, and snapped when she found she could have puppies _and_ a real baby. Why the heck would you crop it? It’s information-bearing as all get-out. I read in the paper today that the woman had two high-school aged children. So, this wasn’t a case of a barren woman…she has children. ---

What’s odd is that I opened this thread this morning, then went over to my mom’s house to wrap presents in the afternoon, picked up the Sunday paper and saw the same story plastered on the front page. Cripes! Melvern is only 30 miles south of here. _counts the kids, dog, cats, and fish_ ---

Knowing how news services love to sell airtime and newspapers, I’d be willing to bet that the picture was chosen especially for this effect. If you took a look at her photo albums you might find a lot more normal-looking shots. Then again, I could be wrong. She _was_ whacked enough to kill a woman for a baby. On a side note, I have an aunt who lives in Wichita, Kansas. I spent about three weeks with her and her husband one summer between seventh and eighth grade and I’ve never seen so many ugly or weird-looking people in my life. At the risk of sounding racist, the only attractive people there were blacks and “gypsies” (gods only know what this really means, the Kansans used the word). Some of the white people in my aunt’s neighborhood made this lady look normal. ---

Yep, that’s us, those crazy, ugly Kansans. We call everyone gypsies that hasn’t lived here for at least three generations ('cause you _know_ that no one would move here on purpose). Our census numbers are usually inflated because you can’t tell the back end of a cow from a regular Kansan. Which is probably just as well, what with the meth labs, Fred Phucking Phelps, fetus kidnappers, tornadoes, dust storms, and evolution being kicked out of school. Hallelujah!
