I tried to sign a sig to put who I used to be while I wait for the powers at be to merge my usernames. I noticed the sig didn’t show up… then noticed that nobody else had one… Are they now passé? ---

and I noticed under the Fixed or Improved sticky: “1.3 million posts and 74 thousand threads deleted during 2005 and 2006 restored” Would that be from the SDMB winter of discontent? Or was that from before then? I remember reading that those posts were GONE… was there another space of time that the boards were out of commission? ---

Sigs: you can do them, just check the box (and recheck it if you preview). Not viewing anyone’s is an option - so if you don’t see mine, look for that option. People still use them, the etiquette seems to be shortish and once per thread. Restored posts - these are not from the winter of missed content incident (or from the pre VB days). A large number of threads were deliberately temporarily deleted in an attempt to deal with performance issues. They were stored and are now back in the database. ---

Related note… now that I’m back I’d like my old username… I e-mailed a few mods about it but havn’t heard any response. I signed up again as a paying customer a very very long time ago and was called “OnceClayton\_e” or something like that… They quickly merged me back to me. Is there someone I should specifically talk to? ---
