Your best bet is to put their worthless ass on ignore.
I have been known to do that too.

This pulling into space ahead of your car is actually another whole issue I have a problem with. If the lines of spaces are on an angle you’ll be nose out to the wrong direction of the driving lane.
To me that is a bigger issue.
If a person feels the need to back in a spot or pass thru to the spot ahead be aware of the direction you have pull out and if the lane has two way traffic.
Most lots with big parking lots have arrow marked lanes.
Respect the arrows and your life will be happier.
And don’t junior-lot-manage. Not your job to wave people by. Ever.
That would be the same if you also backed into the space. There is literally no difference.
In my car, though, it’s a piece of cake to turn into a lane like that properly. My car has a fantastic turn radius. That’s literally the reason I bought that car. (That, and it is narrow, it doesn’t even have a middle seat in the back, so it’s perfect for the tiny parking spaces I often have to deal with in the greater Seattle area.)
Angled parking is really rare here. Anything that i say about parking does doesn’t explicitly mention angle parking is either about parallel parking or perpendicular parking. I don’t know if my experience is the same as that of others in the thread or not, but it may well be.
What car?
Gotta say, the sheer passion on display across decades of SDMB in threads about operating a vehicle, is truly stirring. ![]()
It’s a 2017 Chevy Spark, I freaking love my car. Splash blue color!
(That’s not an actual picture of my car, but it’s the same make/model/year and color.)
My previous car was a Toyota Echo, and when it came time to get a new one, I did research to find what car had the best turning radius, because that was a feature I really loved in my previous car that I had driven for 17 years. I found that the best was a Smart Fortwo, but there was no way I was going to drive one of those, so I looked for the second-best, and the Spark was what I found. (It also helped that it was one of the cheapest new cars on the market as well.)
Sadly, the Spark was discontinued in 2022. ![]()
I love you’re little car. Those are adorable.
But a SUV will not make that turn into the lane going the way of the arrows. People in big ol’ trucks and SUVs cheat and move on into incoming traffic(if a lot really has traffic, but moving cars). It’s an asshole move. IMO
Yes @puzzlegal I realize angled parking spaces aren’t everywhere. I’m not disputing that.
I have seen that behavior myself and I agree. Especially if I happen to be coming the opposite way down that lane, the correct way. That has happened to me before.
Angled parking is pretty common around here (Seattle area) in places like large shopping centers and grocery stores. And they do have arrow lanes to let you know which way to go.
Parking garages nears shows at large theaters in SoCal require back-in parking. When you have several thousand people all leave at once, each vehicle that has to back out is delaying many others. So back-in parking is required. I think that maybe the bottom level (underground parking, so, farthest from the exit) may allow head-in parking.
The worst parking lot offenders in my view are Nosey Parkers, who see you sitting in your car (waiting for someone or for whatever reason) and squat behind or adjacent to your spot, expecting you to pull out so they can get the space. When you don’t, the really annoying ones will honk at you.
They are fucking irritating, yeah.
I call them Parking Vultures. ![]()
That is a perfect description. If they could fly, they’d hover in circles, watching your car.
I rarely have the patience or forethought to do that, but I’ve been in busy lots where that’s the only way to get a space.
I often see it in lots where there are plenty of open spaces, but my space is the one they want. And sometimes they are so close that I can’t even get out safely, and I have to back VERY SLOWLY out, and they have to back up and give me space.
I’ve even had it happen after I park, if I have to do something in my car before I leave, such as get a shopping list together, suddenly there is this car lurking. Like, they were driving around, saw someone in the driver’s seat of a car, and assumed I was leaving rather than I had just arrived. And it creeps me out a bit.
Thank goodness I never had an impatient person honk at me, I can’t even imagine what I’d do then. Probably freak out, like, what the fuck did I do?!
I rarely have a vulture waiting for me, as I tend to park some distance away from whatever building is my destination (where there are few cars, and lots of open spaces). But, I see it happen frequently at the grocery store where I shop; there’ll often be someone hovering, waiting to claim the close-in spot from someone who’s loading groceries into their car.
Preparing to pit the vulture crowd for hijacking my pit thread!
Oh good since you’re aware of hijacks happening, I’ll add another: I have a long, detailed (and quite entertaining, I say) story of the Parking lot dog that lived at our Walmart.
If you want….

ETA her name was Mrs. Parker, (and yes she got married and that resulted in a large family). See how that ties in with your thread title?
My Magnum Opus is ruined, so why not?!
