I’m going to officially nominate the Transit Museum as a Saturday daytime activity, possibly beginning with lunch/brunch in Brooklyn, then to the Transit Museum, and finally into Manhattan for debauchery of various sorts. Don’t be afraid, folks, plenty of actual Brooklynites will be on hand to escort to you to and from these various exotic destinations! Anyone have any thoughts yet about a location for said debauchery? I personally love the Idiot, and it was plenty large enough for our group, but I am also the first to admit that it is, in fact, a very dirty sort of place to hang out. The only other suggestion that comes to mind is The Stoned Crow, on Washington Place. They have a large back room, and if we arrived early on a Saturday, we should have no trouble establishing squatters rights. I will note that while it’s not an expensive bar, it’s more than the Idiot (pretty much everything is going to cost more than at the Idiot, though). How do people feel about restaurant followed by bar (what we did last year) as opposed to finding a single place that is both a restaurant and a bar? On one hand, the change of scenery is sometimes nice … on the other hand, it might be easier to organize if we are only working with one place. ---

I very much like the idea of the Transit Museum, one of the underrated jewels of New York. I’m a bit of a transit nerd so I’d be willing to play docent. One thing we’ll have to bear in mind, it being January, is to have alternatives in the event of foul weather. One of the virtues of the Transit Museum is that it’s so easily accessible by subway - around the corner from one of the larger transfer stations. ---

Well, gang, I’m just about to head off on my [sailing adventure](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=90343). I won’t have much time on the boards (if at all) for the next month or so, but I’m still looking forward to the Mega-Dopefest in January. In my absence, my sister and favorite legume, **Green Bean** , will keep the process of getting the Mega-Dopefest organized on track. That way, I can take credit for everything that works out and she’ll take blame for for all of the problems (though in fact, the reality will be exactly the opposite).
