…
The Found Coke can leaks.
I’m not surprised.
I’ve read they have small dialysis machines for the home. I’d guess a home health nurse or a trained relative would be required.
Wishing you the best Beck. Dialysis will get easier.
Beckers, glad to see you doing well. Been missing you over on the gweeb so I wandered over here to give what encouragement I can. Wooo!
I’d jump up and down, but, you know, old man joints.
Thx…
Not surprising since they keep drawing the cans thinner and thinner until they’re barely there any more. I fumbled a Coke can out of the fridge and when it hit one corner of the bottom it burst spraying my lower pants leg and the interior of the refrigerator. I had to forgo the Pause that Refreshes for a few minutes while I cleaned the residue before it had a chance to fossilize.
Beck,

I’m with panache45, I’ll probably need a chair at the clinic one of these days. I’m not at the point where The Son has to worry about waking up in a tub of crushed ice, with an incision down his back, but I need to kiss all anti-inflammatory medications goodbye, and drink a couple of gallons of water every day.
Pick a seat next to an outlet and bring a Cuddle-Up blanket with you. Snoozing is always good medicine!
My
is with you always, dear Beck!

Well today I was sitting next to a 10yo. I feel so bad for lamenting my fate in life watching that little girl.
She gave me all the ins and outs of the clinic. Apparently she’s been coming for awhile.
Count your blessings, indeed.
There is, of course, an XKCD about that.
Beck how long does dialysis take? How many days a week do you have to go?
I might eventually be in the same chair if I live long enough. I have another Lithotripsy scheduled 03-29. 2nd attempt on the stone they zapped in Jan. They got a lot of it that time.
Getting old isn’t easy. But the alternative is worse.
I go three times a week, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Three times a week is usually typical for dialysis. I spend four hours and fifteen minutes for a session.
I’ll be going 3 times a week, eventually.
They say 3 or 4 hours is typical.
It seemed so long. The lil’wrekker had to hang around town. (Psst. She took my credit card and bought a bunch of crap)
I feel like I will be able to drive myself soon. I’m feeling so much better with just 2 under my belt.
I had a low glucose event late last night. I don’t think it had anything to do with dialysis.
I’m at the diabetic clinic now. They say my numbers look good. It was just one of those things.
I get freebies here. I like that.
And Taco bell is calling my name

Doncha just love when you’re feeling sorry for yourself, that’s just when life shows you how selfish you are? Every time this happens to me (maybe not this obvious, but you know what I mean), I laugh at myself, smack myself in the head, and thank the Holy Spirit for keeping me humble.
Good luck, and God bless. Hope you’re feeling better.
Almost 12 hours a week. I see why it’s such a burdon for patients. I feel really bad for the kids that deal with kidney problems their entire life.
Beck, I keep expecting to see posts about Sonic corn dogs here. You seem to have gone all Taco Bell. Did you break up with corn dogs?
I get you on feeling bad for kvetching when you see people in worse shape than you. I had that experience every time I went to the U. of Utah for eye surgery and met cancer patients. It’s a good reminder to appreciate what we have, but don’t let it guilt you into diminishing your own experiences. The girl you talked with…should she feel bad because she finds her situation difficult when other kids don’t make it as far?
Yeah. Nellie. Taco Bell is my go to now. I still like corn dogs. And Sonic tea. We get the tacos and drive to Sonic for drinks and eat our Tacos there. I feel like I’m cheating on Sonic.
Alas, the heart (tummy) wants what the heart (tummy) wants!
Beck, do you have any control over your down time at the clinic? I used to sell plasma to pay back my student loan twice a week. I operate without a television at home so the cartoons kept me entertained for my time there but I didn’t control what I was watching. Now, of course, we maybe can bring a tablet and headphones and choose what to watch. Since I paid the debt, I switched to donating blood. It occurs less often and I’m a pro at pumping out the blood so it doesn’t take long. I don’t know what the entertainment rules are now.
BTW, you are making me crave Taco Smell, and after a couple of bad experiences, I hate to crave Taco Smell. I might have to find some Mexican food for dinner. See what you did there?
I have pernicious anemia. My blood is not usable or for sale.
I have a rare blood type.
The jokes on me
