I said before, for some odd reason we’ve been watching the western channels. You know the ones where Gunsmoke, Bonanza and The Virginian is always on?! Yeah, that channel. I was awakened bright and early with a particular show blaring on my TV as it woke up; “Daniel Boone was a man, he was a big man. He fought for America to keep all Americans free…!!!” There’s your gift. Just you try to get that ear worm outta your head. You’re welcome. ---

When I was a kid, in the 1970s, my family would take annual summer vacations along with three other families (the families of college friends/fraternity brothers of my dad’s). For several years, we went to these “state resort parks” that Kentucky had. It being Kentucky, they sold a fair amount of Daniel Boone stuff in the gift shops, and I begged for a raccoon-skin cap (despite it being like 20 years after that fad). My parents finally caved in, and got one for me, but not surprisingly, I didn’t wear it often (though I did dress up as Boone for Halloween for several years, until the hat no longer fit). ---
