# Bad bad bad beck misses the old days

I remember my best friend, when I was 13, sleeping over. We gossiped and made fun of our runner-up best friend.
I remember 1st best friend told runner-up bestie all about it. And then the little crums talked about me. As if…
I also recall wanting to beat both of them up. But, well, I refrained. Didn’t need detention a—gain! Just sooooo juvenile.
Boy, I learned my lesson. 1st best friends are never totally loyal. That runner-up is always on their heels.
I missed the informative talks we had and all the scientific discussions. It helped me to grow and mature into the person I am today.
Me, that Becky person, the lazy, ne’er-do-well. Who only gets to get fun, giggles and happiness in a rapidly shrinking bubble. So, so satisfying.
Not in a way that makes loads of cash or workplace accomplishments. Being lazy precludes that. But in a more ethereal way. Spiritual satisfaction, if you will. Maybe I should’ve started my own cult. They seem like cash cows. Ah, maybe not. Too much to be responsible for. I’m just too lazy.
Anyway, I just went out and got me a new bestie. Friends are so special. Wonder where what’sherface is now?
Ain’t it funny how you learn best how to navigate the big old world and a little old message board if you just listen?
Read and retain. That’s a good motto.
In can serve you in this life.

I’m glad you’re here.
Now that you mention it, I miss the olden days, too. All my old friends who are still alive are scattered to the winds, and no one else remembers the times we slept over at each others’ houses and spent hours with curling irons trying to get our hair to look like Farrah Fawcett’s.

When I think of old friends, of which I’ve had many, from those long-ago days, I recall the closing words of Stephen King’s _Stand By Me_ (going on memory, so probably paraphrased): “I don’t think anybody has friends like they did when they were twelve. Jeez, does anyone?”
That doesn’t stop us from making more in later years. I hope you’re one of mine, @Beckdawrek .

In view of the unprovoked nastiness that recently occurred against you for absolutely no reason, I just want to say FWIW that I think you’re a unique and delightful poster and a treasure on this board. I don’t need to tell you that you have many fans here, and I’m one of them. You’re gracious enough to have never, AFAIK, said an unkind word against anyone here. It’s interesting how true character shines through even on a message board.

Well, FWIW, I like you. You bring a lot of color here and you have a great sense of humor. I don’t know why some people are cruel, but I always imagine they are even harder on themselves than they are on others. Or they are in survival mode and lash out at anything they see. When I’m faced with people like that, I just try to be better. I’m glad this hasn’t dampened your spirit.
