Pozhan’s wiener dogs watch for a bit, bark the place down when there is sound of a door bell and growls at the dogs on TV. Sometimes I see Daisy lazy watching with no particular reaction. ---

Years ago, in the early sixties one of my sister’s friend suddenly became homeless. He slept on our couch for quite a while. He was maybe 17 or 18 at the time. He never held down a steady job but what work he did was as a painter’s helper. He had a side line in custom pin striping on hot rods and motorcycles and was quite an artist. We had an old style refrigerator in the house and it looked terrible. On morning my Mom said, as she was leaving for work: “Eddie, get off your lazy butt. Why don’t you put a coat of paint on the refrigerator.” the rest of us went to either work or school and left Eddie there alone. When we all came home, Eddie had put a fresh coat of nice white paint on the old refrigerator and then painted a big picture of Fred Flintstone holding an enormous turkey leg with a bite out of it on the front. We moved out of that house ten years later and where we moved had new appliances so we left that behind. I wish I had been able to save it.
