Son-of-a-wrek made his famous chili Saturday.
He puts black beans in it but no one knows because he purees them first. Serves pinto beans on the side.
'Cause, you know, people.

On Sunday we had macaroni mixed in for chili-mac.

Today after Dialysis I want Tacos, as usual.
She says “We had Mexican food all weekend, are you sure?”

Ha ha.
She thinks Chili is Mexican food.

(Here we go! ☺)

You have Cincinnati chili, too. That is most _definitely_ not Mexican food.

It might be Mexican. It might be Texan. Who cares? The [story I found](https://www.okhistory.org/publications/enc/entry.php?entry=CH041#:~:text=Food%20historians%20speculate%20that%20chili,was%20popular%2C%20and%20at%20St.) says it was invented “around the Texas/Mexican border”

Not sure who invented it then, but they deserve a blue ribbon, for sure.

Keep mum about that in Texas. 🫣

As a Canadian, allow me to clarify this culinary conundrum. Texas and Mexico are both so far away down south that we can hardly tell them apart, and the denizens of both places for some reason like to wear comically large hats. Furthermore, I’ve purchased some excellent Mexican salsas that were made in Texas. So I deem Texas and Mexico to be the same place, at least when it comes to food. Neither of them have poutine or **[Obama cookies](https://lemoulindeprovence.com/products/obama-cookie)**, do they? No, they do not.

Furthermore, to conclude my ironclad argument, chili can be eaten with excellent results by being scooped up with tortilla chips. Tortilla chips are obviously Mexican. Therefore chili is Mexican. QED.

That works for me, @wolfpup. Further investigation indicates that no matter what side of the imaginary line it was, it appears to have been a preparation by native women so I suggest that Texas back down.

That’s like a Canadian I know who claims Maple Syrup was invented in Canada. History tells it was created by an Iroquois chief before any such country was defined. Perhaps it was New France?
