I’m sitting here. My electric power is out since last night. Nearly 24 hours. Because I thought ahead I have a generator. Just not the same. Especially when everyone here wants internet juice. I ain’t got none Well, I lie. My car has a hotspot. We have a schedule to get on it. One by one. These peeps are so spoiled. Even for the slow ass Wifi that I have. Nag, gripe, nag, gripe. But now they miss it. Like I’ve always said: “it’s better than what we use to have” Which was zilch. The electric company showed up today. They can’t restore my power til they replace 3 poles. See…these poles are mine. I bought them. We set them. The wire was provided by electric co-op I’m a member of… I have to pay for 3 new poles. Not cheap. They have me over a barrel. I have to pay or live w/o power. I gritted my teeth and wrote the check. I like electricity. It’s so handy. ---

Still here in the dark. (That explains alot of my life, btw.) Running out of generator gas. Send a raiding party out to find some. They’re not reliable tho’. I send these same yokels for pizza last night and they came back without. The lil’wrekker don’t like Dominos pizza. She only likes Pizza Hut. The whole shopping center where Pizza hut is was dark. ---

When we decided to move to “out in the middle of nowhere,” I had stipulations! I wanted running water. I wanted flush toilets. Not only did I want electricity, I wanted a quantity sufficient to accommodate my needs (kitchen appliances, computer toys, TV, etc). I wanted HEAT. A/C would be nice, but I figured that would belong in the electricity needs category. I wanted DirecTV. I demanded Internet. In exchange for all of that, I scraped together the $$$ to build Mr VOW’s observatory, where he could install his telescope and accoutrements. I have my TV and Internet, and he can play telescope all he wants! We have solar panels instead of power poles. Because, Arizona, you know. Surplus of sunshine. Beck, you need a generator that runs on Big Foot farts! ~VOW ---

I should sell our generator. Like new condition, _never used_. That’s right, we have a generator that’s never been used and is ~18 years old. Our power goes out several times a year for a few hours. By the time I’d get the generator up and running, the power is back. Never used. ---

Have you at least fired it up a couple of times to make sure it still works? Did you purchase this after the east coast/Midwest blackout ~18 years ago? ---

Heh. My gf’s exhusband purchased it right before their marriage crumbled. I stepped in right after. It’s never been started, as far as I know. We have a riding mower that was gifted to my gf from the manufacturer (her ad agency represented the company). It was a display model, never started. Tires kept inflated, it was displayed for six years. I trailered it home, changed the oil, filled the gas tank, and used spray starter to get it running. We’ve been using it as a backup for five years now.
