Did I raise kids with mental strength or just good at double teaming me, out witting me or just a bunch of mooches? Son-of-a-wrek is quite the deal maker. He fast talks, usually has a wingman and good at making his case. I usually end up a bit poorer after he’s done. It’s get-the-garden ready time. In fact we have onions and greens in the ground. Garlic bulbs are pretty large. The green is about a foot tall. Our biggest issue is rabbit and feral pigs deciding it’s buffet time when stuff comes up. Deer occasionally. Like right now. The garlic is shooting. The the onion sets are babies but green is showing. They really like these things. Funny. They never confuse the daffodils or tulips with my veggies. 🤔. So, Son-of-a-wrek has determined we need motion sensor lights. Come-on. These deer have been around here for years. It’s gone down in their family lore the Wreks ain’t doing anything but holler. That one woman might throw a stick of firewood but she won’t hit you. Just watch out for her Winchester. Lights will never move 'em. Somehow I lost my credit card in the discussion with my beloved Son-of-a-wrek. With a cheerful “See, Ma, now you won’t have to worry no mo’, I gotcha covered!” from Son. I’m now poorer by I just don’t know how much. Off he goes. To Harbour Freight to gather together parts ‘n pieces to cobble his ‘system’ into some thing. That’s probably gonna need another trip or big order from some where, to work. Maybe by next year I won’t have to "worry, no mo’ " I have little faith. I do respect his mad skillz at catching me unawares and his gift of gab. Mental strength gets me Everytime. Gah! (It does keep him busy, there’s that) ---

If Son-of-a-wrek’s plan works out, at least you’ll be able to enjoy watching the critters nomming on your garden in the clear spotlight. That’s not nothing. ---

The deer are going to be saying “hey, thanks for the lights, we had trouble finding those onions in the dark.” Wait, deer aren’t nocturnal. Are they even going to be able to see the lights turn on in the daytime? ---

Azaleas I don’t have. Beans, peas, lettuce, beets, chard, carrots on the other hand – Oh yes. And tomatoes, though in the case of tomatoes they’re not much interested in the plants. Strawberry leaves they’ll eat, though. ---

I have rose bushes. Right about 1 foot from the foundation. Deer ate the leaves. Left thorns and the flower. They chewed on the plant it self. But apparently didn’t like it. After those subsequently died, I replaced them and they are in virtually deer proof cages. Kinda ruins the look of the whole thing. But I have roses to cut when they bloom. ---

I would suggest rugosa roses, but they’re not cutting roses. Also, I’m pretty sure they’re the briars that surrounded Sleeping Beauty’s castle ---
