My biggest beef with Rachel/Rachael is that she puts food in her mouth, chews once, squirrels it away, and then says how wonderfully delicious it is…since saliva is necessary to infuse the taste buds this always pisses me off. She’s never had a cold or crappy meal? Bourdain has. His is not a cooking show, but rather a somewhat witty personal take on cuisine and travel. Damn I hate Rachel/Rachael.

> Rachael Ray is not a cook, and she misspells her own name. I’m entirely with Bourdain on this one.

Care to explain that? I have seen her cook. She is a cook. I don’t know any other criteria for being a cook other than cooking. Maybe she is not a formally trained chef with her own resturant but she certainly is a [cook](http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/rachael_ray/0,1974,FOOD_9928,00.html) .

> Once upstate, Rachael managed pubs and restaurants at the famed Sagamore resort on Lake George and was then recruited by Cowan & Lobel, a large gourmet market in Albany, to be its food buyer. **Rachael turned the job into dual positions as food buyer and chef.** As a way to increase grocery sales during the holidays, Rachael began a series of cooking classes.
>
> The 30 Minute Meals classes became so popular that the local media sent a feature reporter to cover the phenomenon, and the following week, an Albany TV station asked Rachael to do a weekly 30 Minute Meals segment for the evening news.

Back on Topic! I can see Bourdain as being the kinda guy that could Piss Off Mother Teresa. It’s REALLY fun to watch, but I’d really hate to share a trans-atlantic flight with him…unless it’s all an act.

Really, he’s VERY intelligent, VERY articulate, and VERY humble to the cultures he encounters…except when he’s not. Which is pretty damn funny to watch.

Occasionally me or the wife will let out with a completely unsolicited Nooooooooo Reservaaaashuns…

(We like Rachael too, but damn folks, threads are cheap, open another one!)

Bourdain’s also a pretty fair writer of fiction as well. At least **Iv’e** enjoyed the ones I’ve read (Bone in the Throat, Bobby Gold Stories, Gone Bamboo).
