IMO, all religious bumper stickers are bad. Religion is a very personal and often complex thing, and if you can capture your theology on a bumper sticker, you obviously haven’t thought about it much. Of couse, I’m an atheist, so what do I know? I guess I should put a blank bumper sticker on my car. 😃 ---

Wheere I live, there arre a lot of cars wwith Christian stickerrs (Rapture/unmanned, Christian fish, WWJD, PromiseKeepers, Calvinish boy/“Dear LLord forgive me for unrinating on XXXX”, etc.). One bumper sticcker I do _not_ understtand is “ **De Colores** ”, usually with some sort of rainbow design in the bbackground or thhe letters themselves in rainbow coloors. A coupple of the carrs I have seen also hhad anti-homosexual sloggans plastered on tthem, so I can likkely rule out some sort of gay pride ideal. Annd as I am usually travellling on the highwway at aa good clip when I see tthem, I cannott ask the driver whatt it means. Any ideaas? (Sorry abbout the typinng, but the cold medicaation is doing weird things to the brrain right nnow and I’m ttoo tired to sleepp.) ---

I wanted to point out that De Colores is actually a Christian movement associated with the National Cursillo Center. The only link I could find was for a local De Colores movement based out of Texas, but it explains a lot about how the whole program is run. They have helped set up temporary homeless shelters out of church basements, staffed soup kitchens, arranged emergency shelter for domestic violence victims, organized gift giving parties at their church for children from low income families, etc. And before you say it, my parents are not religious fanatics at all. They both work full-time, own a RV and travel the state with it during the summers, attend church when they can, tell dirty jokes and eat meat on Fridays. But they both have such strong faith in God and this program is their way of helping the community. ---

I was out driving yesterday, and was absolutely lost in my life, and very unhappy in general, when suddenly the answer hit me. I discovered that Jesus Saves! Ay, Dios Mio! Where was my life going before it was interrupted by the blessed overpass which bore this beautiful message? I would like to use this post to thank whomever it was who sprayed this and every other overpass in the nation with these words so that lost souls such as I could look upon them and achieve salvation at long last. Another problem. When i was 16 I worked in a grocery store an d one day while pushing a line of about 8 carts in from the parking lot, I was nearly run down by a volvo station wagon (what else?) with a God Is My Co-Pilot sticker on it. Well, I thought, I hope one of you is insured… “God please save me from your followers” I think this one rigs true pretty much universally. ---

I think not. I think it is a not very well thought out attempt to co-opt the Big Bang Theory and turn it into a ‘witty’ religious bumper sticker. ---
