You just named four of my favorite Christmas songs. Along with “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.” I like the version by Brian Setzer and Ann-Margaret the most. I also like “Santa Baby” by Madonna and “Jingle Bells” with the Singing Dogs. I dunno, maybe I should post this in the “What rules of cool do you break?” thread. “Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer” does suck Rudolph’s balls, though. ---

_Santa Baby_ is sleazy and irritating. _The Christmas Shoes_ is maudlin, irritating and stupid. If I were Christian I think I’d be offended by the impication that Jesus wouldn’t let me into Heavan unless I was wearing really nice shoes. But I give the prize to [Christmas Carol](http://www.barb-coolwaters.com/christmas/my-name-is-christmas-carol.html) which is maudlin, irritating, stupid _and_ sleazy (because I can’t escape the inappropriate notion that the Santa in the song is a creepy pedophile). ---

Anyone ever hear of Bob “Captain Kangaroo” Keegan’s “The Littlest Snowman (With the Red Candy Heart”? I don’t want to call it a _bad_ Christmas song, and I certainly can’t call it _good_, but I was just wondering because y’all seem to be coming up with some obscure stuff here. My mom used to play this record for me when I was a kid, and it always made me cry. (He melted!) ---

Copied from my livejournal, but it fits this thread, so I’ll put it here as well. So this year, I kept myself sane by singing or making up silly lyrics to all the Christmas music I kept hearing while shopping. You know the ones Jingle Bells, Batman Smells, Harf the Hair Lipped Angels Sing, Deck Us All With Boston Charley and so forth. ``` Next year I will play "Christmas Carrol Bingo." I will pass out cards to friends and family. Each space on the card will be occupied by a familiar Christmas song. As the card owner shops they mark off spaces as they hear the songs. When they get BINGO they must shout it loudly wherever they happen to be. Not only a way to keep sane during the constant barrage of Christmas music starting in November, but also create a minor public disturbance! ;) ``` ---

I can’t imagine how more people aren’t complaining about _Santa, Baby_. That song makes me cringe. I can understand most of the rest of the songs mentioned, even if I may like them once a year or so. But that’s the only one that comes to my mind at the top. ---

I like _Christmas Wrapping_. It was one of the few Christmas songs that got played on CFNY back in the day. I also like Greg Lake’s [_I Believe in Father Christmas_](http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=4121). I have to admit that I’m not that familiar with _Santa Baby_, but it sounds horrid.
