I’ve never wished I hadn’t taken advice from imaginary people on the internet. However, when I posted here about an issue with my then-fiance, several people predicted that things wouldn’t get better, and I should break it off. I ignored them. They were right. That would’ve saved me a hell of a lot of trouble. ---

I often poll my friends about advice for living. Some of them say, “No way am I going to tell you what to do and be responsible for the outcome.” Silly them. Others will tell me what they think I should do and I usually ignore them and do what I want. Asking for advice is a good way to hear options you may not have thought of, beyond that. . . ---
