Bad Grammar Isn't Cute

Dialects are fun, I’ve got no quarrel with that.

It’s “Im” that pissed me off. Im. It hurts to type that - how can a person not just type I’m? It’s automatic. ImImImIm. That feels weird.

My dh took a look at the thread (in another messageboard) that inspired my ire, and remarked “It’s the equivalent of scribblings on the bathroom wall.” He’s so clever, that one.

And even worse, she often says “sammie” instead of “sammich.” My best (male) friend often says the same thing.

I know what you mean, and it’s one of the reasons I don’t get leetspeak or chatspeak. Not only is it harder to read, but I don’t get how people get into typing that way. Some words are common typos, true, but the rest of it makes no sense. Why would you type |/| when you can type M?

Actually, I hate chatspeak more than leetspeak. Leet usually at least follows grammar rules, even if it is impossible to make out. Chatspeak just turns into random words on a page, and you have to wonder if the person’s brain is fully functioning.
