During lunch at work today, our usually bizarre conversations got especially silly. Starting with one of the guys talking about what I should wear as mother-of-the-bride (he voted for Goth) we eventually segued to theme weddings we’ve seen or heard about. Naturally, I assumed there was thread potential. So, get creative - give me your theme suggestions in as much or as little detail as you wish. I’ll toss out two which occurred to me. My Little Pony Wedding - all of the attendants would be dressed in MLP colors, and instead of hats or veils, they’ll sport silky, colorful manes on their heads. Groomsmen will be adorable jockeys in color coordinated silks. As for centerpieces, well, the possibilities boggle the mind. Pest Control Wedding - Everyone wears protective jumpsuits and masks. Instead of throwing rice, the guests pump up their sprayers and the happy couple dashes thru the mist… Surely you can do better than these?? 😃 ---

Dress like a famous serial killer wedding. You could have the bride as Lizzie Bordon, the groom as Charles Manson. The wedding cake would of course be raspberry filled. The cutting of the cake ceremony would certainly be entertaining. The “as long as you both shall live.” bit in the vows would take on a whole new meaning. ---

We’ve been discussing our upcoming wedding that will be held outside this summer. Two ideas that are already definitely out: A Star Wars theme - the usual characters, plus dressing the beer keg up as R2D2. Was C3PO mentioned as the minister? I don’t know, I’ve already blocked this from my mind as much as possible. Oregon Ducks theme - everything in green and yellow with the bridesmaids dressed as cheerleaders. Of course, both of these ideas were the groom’s. I am going to float the MLP theme idea by him and see how he reacts. I have a hundred of those things from my childhood and we could put them on all the tables for decoration. Sounds awesome! ---

I figured that the Bluebeard Wedding would be seen as being a bit ominous. On the other hand: Pirates! What could be more fun that Pirates? ---

Less than a year before I got married (and before we had decided to get married) I had legally changed my name. My new last name, for reasons that made sense to me at the time I chose it, included a type of bird. When we announced our plans to marry, we received a letter from an out of town friend which included several hilarious riffs on my new name and the impending nuptials, including the suggestion that the wedding party, or perhaps even all the guests, would wear chicken suits. No, the bird in my name is **not** chicken, but I guess she figured chicken suits would be more readily available. ---

They even had a supply of shoulder parrots and eye patches for those inconsiderate guests that didn’t dress up :dubious: ---
