I _should have_ turned off _Spiders_ 10 minutes in when the coroner said “Some insects, such as spiders…”, but, again, i hate myself. I deserve to watch the rest this mess. ---

I made it through 25 minutes of the new _Ghostbusters_. Why did they make that piece of shit? From the previews and word of mouth I should have known better. ---

Even worse is seeing something of known awfulness. I recently watched a fair chunk of _Kinky Boots_ which I had already seen and knew I didn’t like. I know this isn’t unique. I am sure that I have watched again several whole movies that I thought were crap. I recall seeing _American Sniper_ twice although I personally thought it was rubbish. ---

I’m the King of Bad Movie Watching, but I usually purge the memory and forget what they were. A couple I do remember: _Lolita_. Unwatchable dreck. _The Claim_. So slow, I watched it in fast-forward and didn’t miss a thing. _Hateful Eight_. Simply awful. ---

Two movies with Donald Sutherland in them that I got stuck watching because friends invited me to: **Gas** (1981) – an abysmal “comedy”. Donald Sutherland plays a helicopter pilot/traffic reporter who, significantly, shares no scenes with anyone else in the film. It looks as if they shot all his scenes on one day after the movie was finished, so they could put a Big Name on the poster. **The Trouble with Spies** (1987). Actually, they shot it in 1984, but it sat on the shelf for three years, which should tell you something. There are actually some big names in this, including Ruth Gordon (it’s one of her last films), but it’s still awful. The problem is, I’ve learned, that Donald Sutherland will appear in damned near anything if you give him enough money. He’s a spectacularly good actor, but you shouldn’t take his presence as an indication that a movie is any good. ---
