But now must unblock. While skimming the satellite programming guide, I found this [“gem”](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082763/). I paid to see this fetid pile when it was new. An excellent example of how much Chevy Chase can suck. I hadn’t thought about this stinker until I saw it in the guide. Even when asked to name the worst movies I’ve ever seen. That’s how bad it it. It makes Ed Wood movies look like Citizen Kane. ---

I have to say that **Permanent Midnight** was one of the worst films I’ve rented in my life. ---

A favorite pastime of mine is to ask people who I know have seen it what happens in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. _No one can remember_. Aside from griping about how bad the “sand” dialogue was, no one can ever remember what the plot was, any key lines, any characters that hadn’t already been introduced. Common responses from non-fans: “That’s the one with the annoying lizard, right? No, that’s the first one. Um, is he still in the second one?” “The guy with the red and black makeup? Wasn’t he in the second one? …he and the lizard guy were in the _same movie_? Then what the hell happened in the second one?” “Wasn’t Natalie Portman wearing that ripped white outfit? _Yeah_.” Common responses from fans: “Yoda fights!” “We meet Count Dooku. …What do you mean, ‘what does he do?’” Does _anyone_ remember what happened in Attack of the Clones? Because I sure don’t. ---

Last night my husband and I watched a tape of _Alien vs. Predator_. Afterward, we discussed the various _Alien_ movies. Neither of us could recall any major plot details from _Alien 3_, except that we hated it. Yet we remembered 1, 2, and 4 quite vividly. ---

Not really bad movies, but I can remember very little of: \*Thunderball(I think because the underwater scenes keep making me fall asleep) \*The English Patient(I remember the scene where William Dafoe loses a finger, but the rest of the movie is the guy dying…and dying…and dying. WILL YOU DIE ALREADY?!) ---

I could probably give you a good majority of the scenes… -Padme is flying back to Coruscant, her ship is sabotaged upon landing and blows up, but she was in a decoy ship and is fine -Obi Wan and Annakin are assigned to protect her -Annakin has the hots for her -She doesn’t want the protection to be too smothering, so they barely sense the evil robotic worms that have been inserted into her bedchamber by a probe of some sort -Annakin chops them in half -Obi Wan leaps out the window and grabs the probe -The probe gets shot by a suspicious female bounty hunter -Annakin catches him in a speeder -A chase scene ensues …etc A few genuine Good Things about AoTC: -Jango Fett, both in and out of armor, particularly his fight with Obi Wan -The sound effect of the sonic missiles -The look of the Kaminoans… probably the most convincing and beautiful alien race Lucas ever created -The aforementioned scene of Obi Wan jumping out the window… just a really well done shot -The big arena battle with jedi vs. droids in huge numbers -Followed by the big battle scenes of clones vs. droids -Followed by the big fight of Annakin and Obi Wan vs. Dooku -Followed by Yoda vs. Dooku Not that I think AoTC is a great movie or anything, but, really, it’s not THAT bad, and neither is TPM. (Vaguely.) The speeder chase was the one through Coruscant, right? That was actually pretty cool. But no one – and I mean _no one_ – can come up with any of it! The best I’ve gotten is one friend who remembered Kamino, with the cloning factory and the rain. Maybe it is the class of my companions (:P), but I think it’s hilarious that it’s such a widespread phenomenon. ---

The OP’s mention of Chevy Chase in _Modern Problems_ is going to be tough to top. Truly a horrible movie in almost every way. Chevy is lucky it didn’t tank his career. I’ve blocked one so well I can’t even remember the title. It was the only movie I’ve ever walked out on. I was the only person in the Theater and about 45 minuutes into the movie I just couldn’t take anymore and left. IIRC, it was sometime around 1990 (early 90’s maybe?) and the movie featured bulbous headed aliens (little people or kids in costumes with mechanized prosthetics?) and was campy in nature. Very low budget and possibly the worst movie I have ever seen. I believe it was advertised as a comedy. Does this ring a bell for anyone? I think it has “Aliens” in the title, but searching the imdb I find nothing that shakes a branch… I’d definitely remember it if I saw it.
