I’d go along with that. It seems strange from this side of the pond that there is so much emphasis put on military service when people are running for public office.
Yes I can see how that would give you a perspective on fighting and soldiers I fail to see why it really makes it better for the candidate. Why does McCains service make him the “stronger”(in a lot of people’s estimation) when it comes to defense? What does flying a plane and sitting in a POW camp have to do with the intricacies of diplomacy and high level negotiation? If this was the case shouldn’t Audie Murphy have been your greatest president?
