> I first ran across the EC Comics story “And All Through the House” in a paperback _Tales from the Crypt_ anthology when I was about 11, and it scarified the snot out of me. (It was adapted, though not very well, for the TV program.) A woman murders her husband, then finds her house under siege by a homicidal maniac dressed as Santa Claus. The closing pun–that this was a Santa Claus who liked to “sleigh bells”–was, up to that time, the best play on words I’d ever heard, and probably helped engender my paronomastic proclivities.

Was it in original comic form or was it the novel adaptation of the 1970’s Amicus movie? That’s where I first saw it- Joan Collins was the woman.

There was a _Tales from the Crypt_ paperback published ca. 1965–my first exposure to what turned out to be a life-long enthusiasm!

Was this movie any good? I just now learned of it and it sounded interesting. Wondered if I should check it out.

I liked it. Nothing super, but it was original and had a few bits of subtle humor. I watched it with my family though, and they hated it.

The Santa from [Santa’s Slay](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0393685/) is pretty darn evil.

In the opening scene alone, he…
comes down the chimney, kicks the family dog into a ceiling fan, which flings it into the chimney, where the dog gets crushed by falling bricks. Santa stabs forks into the father’s hands, pinning them to the table. He snarls at one girl, who faints, and manages to impale herself through the neck on a piece of furniture.

Santa takes a swig of booze, lights a lighter, and breathes fire onto the mother (played by the same lady who played Janice on friends). He karate kicks another guy into a china hutch, which kills him. He takes the burned woman and finishes her off by drowning her in eggnog. The girl who is left tries to flee, and he gets her into the back with a christmas star he threw like a ninja star. Finally, Santa kills the father by shoving an entire turkey drumstick down the fathers throat.
That is just the opening scene. The deaths just get wackier from there.

The department store Santa who gets mind controlled into a crazed killer by Whistler, the main bad guy from the 1985 film [Trancers](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090192/combined).

The Supernatural episode [A very Supernatural Christmas](http://www.buddytv.com/articles/supernatural/supernatural-episode-38-a-very-14737.aspx) where Santa(s) are pagan gods who come down the chimney and steal a kid’s parents for dinner.

Thanks for “Santa’s Slay”, **Mr. Accident**! I’m gonna track that one down.

IMDB says that SNDN’s working title was _Slay Ride_ right up until the actual publicity campaign was started.

It’s a good movie, just don’t take it seriously. The creators liked to poke fun at everything, whether it’s the strip club visiting Christian values mayor, hardcore hunters who like to use bazookas, or the grouchy lady who demands her Merry Christmas.

I do think my favorite part was… where the fate of the world was bet on a curling match between Santa and an angel.

Damn thats some over the top funny right there. I think we have finally have someone that would give Chuck Norris a run for the money. Santa vs Chuck Norris sounds like a winner movie to me.

(Dis)honorable mention: Santa in Rankin-Bass’ _'Twas the Night Before Christmas_. Who cancelled an entire town’s Christmas visit because a letter to the editor (written by a mouse) in a 1900s small town newspaper said that Santa was a myth, and was signed “all of us.”

Plus, this is in a universe where Santa not only exists, but he doesn’t even hide the fact of it, and has regular established communication between the North Pole and the outside world. Thus, this is sort of like the Vatican excommunicating an entire city because some lunatic on a streetcorner was yelling “The Pope doesn’t exist! You _all_ know it!”

Sort of reminds me of The Year Without a Santa Claus. Santa can make an announcement about cancelling Christmas and everyone is sad…so why do so many of the kids not believe in him?
