My car doesn’t have a remote start, but it does have a feature that prevents the driver’s door from being locked if it is open. The other three doors will lock at any time, but not the driver’s door: not from the remote, not from the switch in the car, not even by attempting to press down on the button on the door frame.
Most vehicles have a manual override to allow moving the gear selector without the brake pedal safety switch being engaged. Otherwise, if your car battery were dead or had a major electrical failure you would have no way to get the car out of park to push or tow it.
