Inspired by the pick a wedding song thread, I thought, what would be inappropriate or tasteless songs to choose for a wedding.

I don’t have great choices, but the first three that come to mind are:

Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad - MeatLoaf
Every Breath You Take - The Police
Cherry Pie - by some forgettable 80’s glam band.
Come on – pile up on the wedding
Friends, don’t let friends walk down the aisle.

Well having _The Wedding Singer_ on the brain, definitely one right off the bat is

Love Stinks

My Brother just got married a month ago so I’m still oriented on good songs.

‘Dixie Chicken’

&

‘I Like My Women a Little on the Trashy Side’

both of which I had intended to have a my wedding.

Fortunately, we eloped.

Brick House by the Commodores

Achy Breaky Heart is horrible song for any occasion, but seems especially inappropriate for a wedding.

These are two that I actually see quite often at weddings:

_Beauty and the Beast_. It sounds nice and it’s complimentary to the bride, but what does it say about the groom? (or vice-versa, as the case may be)

_Someday My Prince Will Come_. Nice song, and wholly appropriate for the beginning of the ceremony, but I keep seeing it played at the end. “Yes dear, I love you too, but you do understand that you’re just a standby until a real catch comes along, don’t you?”

Most any old blues song. The men usually have two women, and if they don’t, they’re looking for a second one because the first treats them so badly. 😉

I actually did this when I DJd a friend’s wedding.

Garth Brook’s [_Friends In Low Places_](http://www.cowboylyrics.com/lyrics/BrooksGarth/FriendsinLowPlaceslyr.html)

(the lyrics describe an exBF showing up at a wedding unwanted. At least, that’s what I always got out of it.)

I suppose Radiohead’s _A Punchup at a Wedding_ would be a bad call.

Amusingly, I attended a wedding with **Stardust** a few months ago, and I made a crack about this song (since the album was very new at the time). Strange to say, there actually WAS a fight. But it was way after the wedding, at a party late that night, and we weren’t there. I got a chuckle out of it anyway.

Just for the record, _Cherry Pie_ was done by Warrant.

And _Keep Your Hands to Yourself_ was done by the Georgia Satellites.

As far as suggestions go, how about _Good Enough for Now_ by “Weird Al?”

Sample lyrics:

> [@](#):
>
> “Well, I suppose I’m relatively lucky
> That’s why my love for you is fairly strong
> And I swear…I’m never gonna leave you, darlin’
> At least til something better comes along
> You’re sort of everything I ever wanted
> You’re not perfect, but I love you anyhow
> You’re the woman that I’ve always dreamed of
> Well, not really. But you’re good enough for now”

**Dervinck** , in my opinion that is the KING of non-love songs.

The Muppets have a tune called “I Hope that Something Better Comes Along.” Might seem inappropriate at a wedding.

Ones I’ve actually heard:

“I will always love you” - not a happy song. Listen to the lyrics. This is not, not what you want to play at your wedding. (Doesn’t matter which version… not a wedding song)

“Beauty and the Beast” - which is, at least, about love… but still makes your guests wonder what exactly you’re trying to say about the groom. (Or bride, if they try and guess “so, who’s Beauty?”)

And it’ll make everybody in attendance miserable anyway. 😉

True story:

One of the music theory teachers at the small midwestern college I went to was also a church organist. One day (back in the 70’s, maybe?) he was driving to the church to do a wedding when he heard what he thought was a wonderful new instrumental piece on the radio.

Anyway, he got to the church, and there was a delay with the bridal party. He was asked to provide some light music while everyone waited. So, from memory (he is a very GOOD organist), he played the song that he had heard on the radio.

After a few minutes, the bridal procession was ready. However, the organist couldn’t help but notice that the bride was giving him a _very_ angry stare.

The song he was playing? Sondheim’s “Send In the Clowns.”

I very nearly sang Tom Lehrer’s “When You Are Old And Gray” at my cousin’s wedding. In the end, I chickened out; I decided I’d rather live …

we had an endless debate about this before my friends wedding last year. we were trying to find the most undanceable/inappropriate song ever for the bride & grooms first dance.
front runners were:

Kashmir by led zep
Yes by the manic street preachers “you want a girl so tear off his cock” as a chorus
terminator X to the edge of panic by public enemy
creeping death by metallica “die die die my darling”
prayer to god by shellac
plus many more, but i’d have to ask other people.

you could of course walk up the aisle to 74-75 by the connells
