> One other thing, speaking of Drum and Bugle Corps. I remember in maybe 90-91 (my brother almost toured with one) a corps did a piece which contained part of the Phantom of the Opera - which was extremely cool. Anyone else remember that and know where I can get a tape copy?

To figure out which Drum and Bugle Corps played what music in what year, the [Corps Reps web site](http://www.corpsreps.com/) is invaluable. You can search by year, by corps, by song title, and by composer.

You might be thinking of Santa Clara Vanguard whose entire show in 1988 (placed 2nd at DCI nationals) and 1989 (DCI Champions) was all Phantom of the Opera music.

There are of course other corps who played Phantom music, but Santa Clara is the most prominent.

1989 was a good year for Broadway music. The Cadets of Bergen County placed 5th playing the music of Les Miserables.

[Here](http://store.dci.org/prodinfo.asp?number=DVD-89&variation=&aitem=12&mitem=27) is the 1989 DVD.

By the way **whatami** , if you want a recording of either the 1989 Vanguard or the 1989 Cadets on CD, I’d be happy to make a copy and send them to you. If you’re interested, email me at [greenfleurdelis@hotmail.com](mailto:greenfleurdelis@hotmail.com).

I should point out that not all bagpipes bags are filled with your breath, there are also some varieties that are filled with bellows. The Irish uilleann pipesfor example.

I’ve seen adverts for the Boyd e-pipe, but never seen an actual example. Fortunately, the Beloved is very tolerant of my foibles and as for the neighbours, I keep the windows closed and assume they can’t hear me practising. (Of course, I’ve never actually asked them about that - why disturb them with pointless blethering questions? )

This was actually educational and I for one appreciated it. I can see why a professional balloonist would know a lot about air. 😃

I was also told once that a French horn is also considered to be a string instrument because of its construction, which is why one sees its presence in string ensembles. True?

An empoyee at my previous company used to practice his bagpipe at lunch in the parking lot. One day we received an email warning that there was a spate of car break-ins. He rushed down to his car only to see his worse fear confirmed: someone had broken in to his car and left a second bagpipe.

Man - I should be so lucky! A free back-up set of pipes! Where do you work, again? 😃

Wha? Wha? I’m seriously offended. How dare you suggest that I am, in fact, a gentleman?!?
