Bailey, hands down. And she can keep her glasses on. There was a site I read recently which posited that the defining question of one’s character should not be “Mary-Ann or Ginger?” but “Bailey or Jennifer?” ---

If you really want to explode, try to imagine being in the audience in 1970 for _Abelard and Heloise_, in which Diana Rigg became one of the first major actresses ever to appear completely nude onstage. Mrs. Peel versus? No contest. Emma Peel = M appeal (= man appeal = British variant of “sex appeal”). They chose correctly. Diana Rigg forever. (But, **Peyote Coyote** , I like how you think.) ---

I forgot all about Emily Hartley! Or even better, the schoolteacher from _The Birds_ or the wife from _Blackbeard’s Ghost_! Rawr. I’ve always had a weird crush on her, at least I did before “Nightingales” when she was replaced by some shrewish doppelganger with Harvey Fierstein’s voice. And I always confused Bailey with Mrs. Kotter/Mrs. Szalinski. As for the OP: Mrs. Peel is still the winner, easily. But at least it’s getting more interesting. (Mrs. Peel vs. Tara King? Please!) ---
