A collection of his funny, offbeat journal entries (the title is taken from a line on the menu of an Indian restaurant in London). Vowell and Sedaris are friends, as it happens.

A drugstore paperback Western that I got in a box of books years ago and only now, am getting around to reading. I always liked Westerns, and this one is good so far: saloon brawls, women of questionable virtue, a corrupt sheriff, and there will undoubtedly be a gunfight before the end.

9. _From Here to Eternity: Traveling the World to Find the Good Death_ by Caitlin Doughty

“Fascinated by our pervasive fear of dead bodies, mortician Caitlin Doughty embarks on a global expedition to discover how other cultures care for the dead. From Zoroastrian sky burials to wish-granting Bolivian skulls, she investigates the world’s funerary customs and expands our sense of what it means to treat the dead with dignity.”

And @DZedNConfused thanks for dropping in! Yes, I can understand why some might find _Hamnet_ “too purple”, but I love purple and fuschia, in clothes and sometimes in prose. There’s no accounting for tastes; for example, Sally Rooney has a huge following but she’s just not for me.
