**Common phrases that include an adjective and the name of a food, but are generally ascribed to something other than food.** 1. He’s a good egg 2. That was a tough nut to crack. 3. Kansas is flat as a pancake. 4. Easy as pie 5. Pretty as a peach 6. I’m in a real pickle, here. 7. Just a red herring 8. Nothing but sour grapes 9. He has bigger fish to fry. 10. That guy’s a bad apple. 11. What he said was complete baloney. 12. He’s thick as molasses. ---
