It’s not like Columbus founded the United States. And New Year’s Day is right out. Unless you happen to be in one of the countries where a national holiday coincidentally falls on January 1: Brunei, the Republic of China, Cuba, the Czech Republic, Haiti, Italy, Slovakia, or Sudan. ---

Okay, I’m throwing a flag down. My apologies if I was unclear but national holiday does not mean any holiday celebrated by a particular nation. It’s a holiday that specifically celebrates the existence of a nation - usually celebrated on the anniversary of the day when a nation declared its independence. National holidays 1.
