13 things in common use, but not the use for which they were originally intended 1. Viagra (originally blood pressure med) 2. Minoxidil (also a blood pressure med, now mostly used by bald men to regrow hair) 3. Milk (meant for baby cows) 4. Warfarin (originally marketed as rat poison, now prescribed as blood thinner) 5. Leeches (originally a parasite, once used to treat fevers and numerous other things, now used in microsurgery) 6. Lysol (originally marketed as a feminine hygiene/birth control douche, now used as a cleaner and disinfectant) 7. Duct tape (used for almost everything except ducts now) 8. Avon Skin So Soft, widely used as mosquito repellent 9. Coca-Cola (purported by its creator to be a medicinal tonic for morphine addiction and impotence, among other things) 10. Graham Crackers (The graham cracker was originally conceived of as a health food as part of the Graham Diet, a regimen to suppress what he considered unhealthy carnal urges, the source of many maladies according to Rev. Sylvester Graham.) 11. Poodles (originally bred as water dogs, now mostly kept as pets) 12. Tongue depressors – Besides making tongues depressed, used for Arts & Crafts and potted plants. 13. Silly Putty- invented as a possible substitute for rubber; didn’t work, but succeeded great as a toy.
